Energy Efficiency

Climate and energy policy are becoming ever more intertwined.

This concerns Germany with the energy turnaround policy, the German Renewable Energies Sources Act and the Energy Services Act, and on the European level with the triple goal of CO2 reduction, energy efficiency improvement and renewable energy development.

This is why FutureCamp started years ago to expand its core competencies in emissions trading into the areas of energy and energy efficiency.

Today, we provide a wide range of services for the energy sector, industry and SMEs and can carry out energy audits according to DIN EN 16247-1 in accordance with the Energy Services Act with three BAFA-listed auditors of our own.

Integrated Management Systems

FutureCamp helps you to utilize the synergy effects of integrated management systems in your company.

Management systems for quality, environment, occupational safety and energy are often introduced in companies as parallel systems. In addition, they are not always optimally implemented, which reduces their effective further benefit. Integrated systems, on the other hand, make a significant contribution to increasing a company's profitability, meeting quality requirements and legal regulations, and achieving environmental and climate protection goals.

Our service portfolio for you includes:

  • Introduction and further development of management systems according to DIN EN ISO 50001, DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN ISO 14001 and EMAS
  • Supporting the conversion to standard revisions as well as the integration of management systems
  • Conducting workshops and employee training
  • Conducting context, opportunity/risk and stakeholder analyses
  • Conduct internal audits.
  • Development of key figures and targets

Energy Management Systems DIN EN ISO 50001

Since 2009 FutureCamp has assisted its customers in the implementation and further development of energy management systems.

Following the reform of the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), the introduction of energy management systems in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 remains essential for industrial enterprises with power consumption rates above 5 GWh that want to continue drawing benefits from a reduction of the EEG apportionment in the special compensation scheme.

According to the amendment to the German Energy and Electricity Tax Act, a cap on the German eco-tax – the so-called “Spitzenausgleich” – can only be granted to companies that generate energy savings. They must introduce an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 or an environmental management system in accordance with EMAS.

We offer very individual support services for the efficient implementation and further development of an energy management system in your company.

Our services include the following work packages:

  • Taking stock of the existing situation by collating usable data and defining the energetic starting point
  • Carrying out an energy assessment and documentation of optimization measures
  • Drafting a set-up and process flow description, including documentation in a management handbook
  • Drawing up energy performance indicators to monitor achievement of energy goals, etc. according to the requirements of ISO 50003/ 50006/ 50015
  • Execution of internal audits and training of internal auditors
  • Supporting the external certification process

"Energieeffizienzmaßnahmen spielen seit vielen Jahren sowohl wirtschaftlich, als auch klimapolitisch eine wichtige Rolle. Energieaudits und Energiemanagement-Systeme sind aus unserer Sicht ein entscheidendes Vehikel zur Erreichung internationaler Klimaschutzziele und bedürfen entsprechender Aufmerksamkeit."

Dr. Christian Pacher deals with operational and technical issues in the context of emissions trading and supports our customers with the introduction and further development of energy management systems. In addition, Mr. Pacher is listed as BAFA energy auditor and carries out energy audits in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1.

Energy audits in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1 and alternative energy management systems

We conduct energy audits in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1 with three FutureCamp internal auditors listed at BAFA and a network of 25 additional energy auditors.

Energy audits in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1 are not only relevant for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) when it comes to applying for the tax-cap "Spitzenausgleich" (tax relief under § 10/ § 54 Electricity/ Electricity Act). Since the adoption of the Energy Services Act energy audits have to be carried out by large-sized companies every four years (beginning 5.12.2015), unless the company has implemented an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 or carried out an environmental management system in accordance with EMAS (see § 8).

We will be happy to assist you in the research and selection of the right energy management system for your company.

Our services around energy audits according to DIN EN 16247-1 include:

  • Review of SME definition criteria
  • Implementation of the annual energy audit for SMEs in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1 and SpaEfV for granting the “Spitzenausgleich“ tax-cap for SMEs and preparing the application for “Spitzenausgleich” compensation at the Main Customs Office
  • Performance of energy audits for non-SMEs in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1 according to § 8 Energy Services Act (every 4 years)
  • Introduction of an alternative energy management system in accordance with Appendix 2 of the Spitzenausgleich-Effizienzsystemverordnung (SpaEfV)
